Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

On our approach into Rio’s Santos Dumont airport our spectacular arrival route takes in views of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain, and the beautiful bays and beaches that have made Rio famous the world over.  It is a stunning first impression, but one which is reinforced repeatedly over our coming days in Rio – this truly is one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

Stopover in Santiago - Where to Stay, Where to Eat

After years of making multiple connections by the skin of our teeth, or, more disappointingly, overnighting in the nondescript airline-appointed transit hotel when being bumped onto the subsequent day’s flight, we have finally accepted this as a South American reality, and factored in a stress-alleviating overnight stay in Santiago on our inbound and outbound legs.  We recommend you do the same, and here’s how best to spend your time…

Guaranteed Wildlife in Sepilok, Borneo, Malaysia

We are bound for the jungles of Borneo, keen to see orangutans and other wildlife in the rich rainforests of the Kinabatangan River and the Danum Valley.  But en route, we are sojourning in Sepilok, to visit its well-regarded sanctuaries and reserves.

Here’s what you need to know for planning your visit to Sepilok…

Visiting Brunei - Should you Go and What to Do

It is very likely that the small nation of Brunei has never found itself high on your travel to-do list. Or if it has, it is equally likely that recent news regarding changes to the legal system convinced you to go elsewhere. But we are very pleased to report that, as is almost always the case, if you look past the media headlines and open your mind and heart to something different, you will discover a warm and friendly country that offers so much more than you might have expected.

How to Enjoy Australia's Lord Howe Island

Lord Howe Island is a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean, 700km off the coast of New South Wales.  But this World Heritage listed speck in the ocean certainly punches above its weight when it comes to stunning natural beauty and a wealth of accompanying activities.  Here’s how to make the most of your visit to this pristine island paradise…

Destination Vanuatu

The tropical islands of the Pacific have long been a magnet for travellers – swaying coconut palms, aquamarine lagoons, balmy weather and chic beachside resorts.  Trying to choose between them is an exercise in pleasant futility – all are enticing and appeal in a multitude of ways.  But for our recent sojourn in the South Pacific, the combination of beach-combing bliss plus a healthy dose of adventure, including the opportunity to visit the world’s most accessible active volcano, swayed us in favour of Vanuatu…

Luxury Travel in Greenland

There’s an old traveller’s adage – “when you’ve been everywhere else, there’s always Greenland…”  This may be harsh, as Greenland has always had significant appeal for those who are adventurous of heart, and has appeared on the traveller’s radar more and more in recent years.  But can it appeal to those looking for luxury adventure?

As they say ... When You've Been Everywhere Else, there's Always Greenland…

We are off on another adventure, and this one is a little off the beaten path – we are heading to Greenland & The Faroe Islands…

Why Greenland? – No, we haven't been "everywhere" else.  Though we are working on it!

But with its vast untouched landscapes, epic ice-cap, towering icebergs and calving glaciers, plus a smattering of truly unique lodges, it looks like an awe-inspiring destination.

And why the Faroe Islands? – because they just look amazing!

An Indulgent Weekend in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales

A conference in Sydney and a sister in Sydney – a serendipitous aligning of the stars:  we are journeying East for the week.  But while the weekdays are occupied with work during the day and gastronomic adventures in Sydney’s finest epicurean establishments in the evenings, we are bookending our Monday to Friday with weekend adventures further afield.  First up is a journey to New South Wales’ iconic Hunter Valley…

Returning to India

Our latest travel itinerary is pretty well a pure wildlife adventure – we are heading back to India, this time to focus almost exclusively on seeing and photographing tigers! (We hope!).

A Wedding Weekend on the North Island, New Zealand

We are in Hamilton, New Zealand for the wedding of Mel, D's long time Team Member, to Fraser, Mel's long time beau.  Amongst the abundance of wonders that is New Zealand, Hamilton, whilst an eminently pleasant town, is unlikely to rate as a travel destination in itself.  So while we are in the region, we are going to make the most of our extended weekend, exploring the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, Hobbiton, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and Rotorua.

Kangaroo Island, South Australia

The view from Southern Ocean Lodge is hypnotic…  From every angle, from every room, the view of the lodge’s namesake ocean extends to the horizon.  It is mesmerising and inescapable…  plus the food is sublime...

Eventually we manage to drag ourselves away from the indulgence of Southern Ocean Lodge to explore more of Kangaroo Island.  KI has built upon its dramatic scenery and famous wildlife to become a worldclass destination for adventure and food too.
